Start on the Google Cloud free program page and sign in with the account you want to use for the project. Check the eligibility and verification steps shown for your country.
Once the trial starts, open Billing and confirm the credit appears before creating resources. For a VPS, choose Compute Engine and check the estimated cost of the machine, disk, and network traffic.
The trial credit and monthly Free Tier allowances are separate. Review the limits for the products you enable. Google says charges begin only after you activate a full paid account.
